March 20183/28/2018 Robbery to Revival
The last month has been an amazing and inspiring time. Seeing our team of 6 and 1/2 khmer DTS students being led by our 2 khmer staff taking a 2 week outreach into a neighboring province has to be the highlight. This has been our purpose since day one. Creating a platform to train young khmer leaders to share the love of God in practical ways with their community. The reality of forgiveness and hope extended to us through God I believe is the cure for all of societies issues. It’s definitely been the cure for mine : )
Another miracle was how God turned our robbery into a viral faebook post that communicated the love and grace of God to over a million people while also getting us enough donations to cover everything that was taken. Combine that with the time where God spoke through me to call out the visa department at the border for their greed and dishonesty and I’d say it’s been a successful month. The most surprising part of the whole thing was they asked me to share with their boss who apologized to me and worked with us to reduce a $2100 mistake down to $400. It was their fault but if you’ve ever been through the Poipet border and had visa issues you’d know that this is no small miracle. Consulting in the sphere of education? I had an amazing opportunity to spend a week in Phnom Penh meeting with some business men who are trying to develop a service to help guide Khmer to the right schools. I've been seeing more and more the potential impact from strategic partnerships. If we can provide biblical principles and strategic thinking to serve the business and education community why not? They even covered my travel expenses, put me up, and took me to some delicious Indian food! Last but not least we had an awesome week together as a core group of base leaders for our first ever quarterly leadership meeting. Our friends Joyce and Alger came out to help bring some teaching and refreshment while we met as staff for 3 days talking about what God’s done, what God’s currently doing, and what we feel God wants us to focus on for the future. Speaking of the future we have some big things coming up! This Friday one of our core team leaders Hannah will be arriving from the Kona Ships Justice DTS with a team of 12 to help serve for the next 9 months! We’re so excited for all that God’s going to do through them during their time here. One big push right now is we’re feeling led to start a 3 month Bible Core Course here in June! It's still in the storming stage but we have 20 potential students and 4 potential staff. Just praying for a school leader. Big thanks to those of you who have been praying and supporting my ministry financially. This has been the first time since coming back to Ywam where my personal finances haven't been a major source of stress. I've been able to give generously to others, show hospitality, and take better care of myself which has helped my leadership and overall focus exponentially. I was even able to finally sign up for health insurance!! Thanks Jordan and Mazzis!! : ) God's going to continue doing great work through us as we partner together to see his kingdom come in the nation of Cambodia. Much Love, Uriah The rest of our teams testimony
